What to bring on a Udawalawe jeep

A private jeep is open to the weather. Pack for dust, sun, and an early start, and leave the drone at the hotel.

Wear closed shoes and muted colours. A light jacket is enough before sunrise, even when the afternoon will be hot. A hat and sunglasses matter once you are on the reservoir plains. Sunscreen, a scarf for dust, and a spare battery for the camera cover most trips.

We carry bottled water. Full-day safaris include lunch. Snacks are welcome; a large picnic is not, and nothing should be offered to animals. Drones are not allowed inside the park. Binoculars help with birds along the tank, and a zoom lens is more useful than a wide one.

Children are welcome. Under-fives ride free and still count as a seat in the jeep of six. Tell us their ages when you book so the quote is right before you travel.
